I change my site like I change my clothes

I love reporting. I love gathering information; I love coordinating news coverage and engaging with the community.

But I completely, utterly despise writing. *Cue tears from city editor*

I’ve been told I’m good at it (you’re too kind, Shelly Haskins), but it’s just not my passion. So I’ve finally decided to redesign my website so it better reflects my current job and interests, and I have removed the heavy focus on the blog. Yes, I’ll still write here occasionally for the five of you who actually enjoy reading my rambling, but it’s time to abandon the traditional blog setup.

I’ll only be writing when I feel like I can be myself. My greatest struggle is being able to use my own voice here — I’m still having a difficult time finding the happy balance between professional Niki and real Niki. I’m just not there yet.

(For anyone who’s actually counting, this is the fifth redesign in about two years. Obviously I enjoy customizing sites more than I enjoy actually creating content for them.)
