I’ve established this Web site to serve several purposes. Obviously, it’s part blog. Most of all, though, I wanted to provide people a place to go if they wanted to learn a little more about me or my work as a journalist. I hope this Web site serves as an example to high school and college students who are struggling to set up their first site and are looking for examples of pages that have combined both career and personal elements.
Now, a little about me: I’m the social media editor for The Huntsville (Ala.) Times. Before that, I worked at The Times for a year and a half as the crime reporter. (You’ll see signs of my police reporting background here and there). I’ve lived in Huntsville for two years now, and I’m in love with the community and the newspaper here. You’ll hopefully see me around the Rocket City a little more often now that I have normal work hours.
I was born and raised in Rogersville, Ala., and attended Lauderdale County High School. From there, I went to Auburn University. I graduated in 2007 with a degree in journalism, finishing in the top of my class (summa cum laude). I served as editor of The Auburn Plainsman during my senior year of college. Oddly enough, I was the 13th female editor in the Plainsman’s 113th year. (Coincidence? Nope, I was definitely cursed.)
Jason Cassimus is awesome.
